STARTUPS

As a  firm believer in unorthodox solutions, innovations, and social entrepreneurship, here are some of my efforts to transform visions into realities.

Co-Founder, 2019-

Founded in 2019 with fellow Road to Silicon V/Alley students, MOOVE was founded in efforts to mitigate methane levels and water pollution that results from excess agricultural manure.

Combining elements of large dairy farms and biofuel companies, MOOVE's goal is to upcycle cow waste and give it a second life that will go towards clean, renewable energy.

In December of 2019, MOOVE won 3rd place at the Hult Prize Campus Competitions. The team was invited to pitch at Monterrey, Mexico for the Hult Prize Regional Competition, but was moved to online rounds during early 2020. Although MOOVE didn't make it to top 6 in regionals, the team is still making efforts to seek opportunities, receive mentorship and guidance from industry experts, and work with wonderful professors and the Hult Team at Rutgers to help our vision become a reality.

Founder & President, 2019-

During her time as a varsity member at her high school's Model UN & Congress, Janice noticed a problem during debate conferences. The young ladies in the club had a harder time shopping for formal and professional attire to wear for competitions. Upon further research in university, Janice found some surprising statistics through conducting research:

  • 89% of respondents believed that there is a lack of fashionable yet affordable stores that sell formal and casual business attire for young women.

  • 93.5% of respondents felt that shopping for business attire is more difficult for women than men.

  • When asked if "business formal" and "business casual" were clearly defined for young women, 48% disagreed, 32% were neutral, and 19% agreed.

Founded in 2019 with an initiative to normalize young women's professional attire, PURSUIT is a brand dedicated to selling business professional and casual clothing for young women made from recycled fabric.

In February of 2020, PURSUIT was selected as a semi-finalist to move on to the next round of the Draper Competition for Women Collegiate Entrepreneurs in April. Unfortunately, the final rounds were cancelled due to safety precautions. Throughout the process, Janice  took responsibility as a "solopreneur" to draft a 2-page executive summary as well as develop a pitch deck to present to the Entrepreneurship & Innovation LLC microgrant opportunity.

Janice would like to thank Wendy Herman, Professor Minkoff, Sarah Pomeranz, and her mentor Devika Bhandari for their guidance and support throughout the process.

Currently, PURSUIT is in the process of R&D, target-market fit, and entering more business competitions. Stay tuned!

KWK__1_-removebg-preview.png

Founded in 2018, KWK Bracelets was Janice's first project and venture that kindled her interest for business and nonprofits.

Combining her love for bracelets and social entrepreneurship, she blended her passion to create her own nonprofit that gave to an organization she believed was necessary to help others, whether that meant providing girls education or providing shelters for those who didn't have a home. The International Rescue Committee helps millions of girls and families all over the world- every sale made went towards helping the IRC.

Janice ran all of KWK Bracelets' operations, from braiding every individual bracelet, concept designs, and fulfilling orders. It was through KWK Bracelets Janice learned about e-commerce, Google SEO, and designing websites from scratch using no-code software. She also launched her own social media campaigns, ran affiliate marketing programs, and explored digital media marketing through learning photography and photoshop.

You can check out her first website here.

KWK Bracelets is dedicated to helping others and bettering the world. KWK's logo is a wave because what goes around, comes around. Responsibility and kindness should be spread just like that.
